The MEPC 56 Update looks at the regulatory issues progressed or agreed during the 56th Session of IMO's Marine Environment Protection Committee that was held in July 2007. Regulatory developments include the extent of progress made on the draft Recycling Convention and the revision to MARPOL Annex VI on air pollution. The status of the Ballast Water Management Convention and the Anti-fouling System (AFS) Convention are also reviewed. New guidance has been agreed concerning ISM Code implementation, carriage of vegetable oil in chemical carriers and several areas concerning the implementation of the Ballast Water Management Convention.
