ABS Oversees Rig Rehab
The hurricane Katrina damaged Nabors 660 Jackup rig has undergone comprehensive rehabilitation at the Lamprell facilities in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and is ready to resume work. The rig, previously named ‘Ocean Warwick’, is now on long term contract with Saudi Aramco operating offshore Saudi Arabia..
The rig has been undergoing repair and renovation since November 2006 with ABS, the class society of record, verifying the rig has been brought into conformance with its Rules. The work included the removal of all storm damaged materials, fabrication of a replacement drill floor, legs, spud cans and sponsons, refitting the living quarters as well as the installation of five new engines and a complete drilling package. ABS Principal Surveyor Homero Guerra, Dubai, UAE, confirms that ABS delivered the certificates for the rig in April.
