York, NY) T. Peter Papppas, financier and
former president of Pappas Enterprises Inc. and Michael
D. Tusiani, chairman and chief executive officer
of New York-based marine brokerage and consulting
services firm Poten & Partners were elected to
the ABS Board of Directors by the ABS Council following
today’s Annual Members Meeting of the international
classification society.
Pappas has a long association with the governance
of ABS having previously served as a board member for
the period from 1988 to 1998. Pappas has also previously
served on the board of the ABS affiliate, ABS Group
of Companies Inc. His election re-establishes his direct
involvement with ABS. Tusiani brings to the board extensive
energy industry experience.
Earlier at the meeting, several prominent members
of the international maritime community were elected
to three year terms on the ABS Council, a sixty member
advisory body to the management of ABS. The new Council
members comprise:

ABS governance is vested in a Membership comprising
more than 800 individuals eminent in the marine, offshore
and other related industries, from which the Council
and Board of Directors is elected.
Founded in 1862, ABS is a leading international classification
society devoted to promoting the security of life,
property and the marine environment through the development
and verification of standards for the design, construction
and operational maintenance of marine-related facilities.
