Nondestructive examination (NDE) reports capture information on critical inspection areas of a rig. In the ABS pilot study on aging rigs, the analysis categorized the rigs into “zones”. Jackups were assigned seven “zones” including upper leg, lowerleg, deck attachment, and upper hull. ABS extracted all damage data and assembled an historical condition profile for each zone.

Note unique to the MCF is the construction of the columns which are tubular, like a cell Spar. This allows for more compartmentalization. It is a first for a semisubmersible.
