Global jackup demand continues despite a slow down in jackup utilization in the Gulf of Mexico. ABS continues to class the majority of the jackups. Attending the recent launch of the ABS-classed Deep Driller 7 jackup for Premium Drilling, an Awilco and Sinvest joint company, was ABS Principal Engineer Ahmad Sarthy, from the ABS Singapore office.
Sarthy says the premium jackup is a Baker Marine Pacific Class 375 design. The independent leg cantilever rig has a drilling depth of 35,000 feet. It was built at PPL Shipyard Pte Ltd, in Singapore and launched in late February. It is the seventh in the series of eight Deep Driller jackups.
