Offshore Safety Focus at International Maritime Conference

ABS was well represented at the Third International Maritime Conference on Design for Safety that was held for the first time in the United States at the end of last year. The Third International Maritime Conference on Design for Safety was held in the United States for the first time in late 2007. ABS presented two papers focusing on offshore design and safety issues.

Gareth Burton, Principal Engineer, Offshore Engineering Department, ABS Americas, presented Practical Role of Classification Societies in Verifying Safe Design on Offshore Oil & Gas Facilities with co-authors Luiz Feijo, Project Manager, Project Development Group, ABS Americas, and Raquel dos Santos, former Consultant, ABS Offshore Engineering Department, ABS Americas. The trio of authors also presented Safety Challenges Associated with Deepwater Concepts Utilized in the Offshore Industry.
