SNAME OFFSHORE SYMPOSIUM

Drs. Yung Shin (left) and Hoseong Lee, ABS hydrodynamics experts, co-authored and presented a paper titled “Sloshing Impact Load and Strength Assessment of Membrane-Type LNG Containment System In Large LNG Carriers.”
BS provided sponsorship and participated in the Texas Section of the Society of Naval
Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) 14th Offshore Symposium “LNG: From Source To Market” in November.

The symposium, featuring papers on topics from manning and operational standards to technical and design concerns, was held in Houston, Texas, in conjunction with The Society of International Gas Tanker and Terminal Operators (SIGTTO).

ABS Vice President of Energy Development William J. Sember wrapped up the symposium with his presentation “Demand for Natural Gas: The Role Class Plays in LNG Transportation.” After the event, Sember (back row, middle) visits with Henry Reeve, Alan C. McClure Associate, Inc. Naval Architects and Engineers (left) and SIGTTO General Manager James MacHardy (right). Also shown are Melissa Hertel, Jensen Maritime Consultants (seated left) and Kevin Kinports, Seven Seas Consulting (right), authors of the paper “Design, Analysis and Optimization of LNG Logistics Using Simulation.”
