APL’s Submerged Turret Loading Buoy System for LNG Imports
Honored for Emerging Innovation/Technology

he first Annual Offshore Energy Achievement Awards hosted by BP named Advanced Production and
Loading (APL) submerged turret loading (STL) buoy system for LNG imports as the winner in its “Emerging Innovation/Technology” category at an awards ceremony in Houston, TX, USA.

APL of Norway contracted with ABS to class the STL design for Gulf of Mexico installation. The STL, a type of single-point mooring system (SPM), is an integral component of the industry’s first LNG terminal, dubbed the Energy Bridge Deepwater Port. ABS has classed some 40 SPMs. This worldwide expertise has assisted industry with the delivery of an innovative gas transportation system.
