This new edition of the Guide
applies to classification of design, construction and installation
of offshore pipelines made of metallic materials, as well as
the periodic surveys required for maintenance of classification.
The Guide may also be used for certification or verification
of either design, construction or installation of pipelines.
If ABS certification or verification is in accordance with
this Guide and covers design, construction and installation,
then the pipeline is also eligible for ABS classification.
Specifically this edition updates Chapters 1 and 2 and adds
a new Appendix 3 for LNG cryogenic pipelines. |

construction or installation of risers. If ABS certification
or verification is in accordance with this Guide and covers
design, construction and installation, then the riser is also
eligible for ABS classification. Specifically, this edition
updates Chapter 1 and adds a new Section for flexible risers
in Chapter 3. |

This new Guide specifies the
ABS requirements for the certification of offshore pipes and
piping components that are made of fiber reinforced plastics
(FRP). Included are the requirements for design, manufacturing,
construction, testing and survey during and after construction
for the FRP pipes and piping components used in offshore topside
modules. |
