he student design team from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) was named the winner of the 2005 International Student Offshore Design Competition at this year’s Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers (SNAME) Maritime Technology Conference & Expo in Houston, TX.

UFRJ was selected from a field of nine contenders with its entry titled “Subsea Production System for Gas Field Offshore Brazil.”

The Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers is an internationally recognized nonprofit, technical, professional society of individual members serving the maritime and offshore industries and their suppliers. ABS is a sponsor of the competition.
