Sapura 3000
Specialized Offshore Vessel to ABS Class

A

BS will class the Sapura 3000 heavy-lift crane and pipe-laying vessel currently under construction at Sembawang Shipyard in Singapore.

The Sapura 3000, designed by Sea of Solutions B.V, The Netherlands, is a 3000 short tons heavy-lift Derrick Pipelay Vessel that will be self-propelled and designated DPS-2 meaning redundant dynamic positioning.

As offshore field developments are taking place in increasingly deeper waters, the ability of an offshore vessel to remain on-station at location is critical. ABS classification standards were chosen for this vessel because of the class society’s offshore experience and extensive knowledge with DP.

Sapura 3000 is equipped with a Helideck in compliance with UK CAP437 and IMO Code of Safety for Special Purpose Ships,Res.A.534(13) and has accommodations for more than 200 persons. The Class Notation for the vessel is: XA1(E) , XAMS, XDPS-2 with the description "Heavylift/Pipelaying Vessel" in the Record.

The vessel is expected to be delivered in fourth quarter 2006. Upon completion, the Sapura 3000 will be deployed offshore Malaysia.
