The Alpha Star, a DSS ™ 38 semisubmersible design, has been awarded to Singapore’s Keppel FELS with ABS named as the classification society. This is the second deepwater semisubmersible ordered by Brazilian drilling contractor group Queiroz Galvao Oleo e Gas (QGOG) at Keppel FELS. ABS also classed the other semisubmersibles, Gold Star and Lone Star. 

The $385 million semisubmersible is designed to meet operational requirements for the deepwater “Golden Triangle” of Brazil, Africa and the Gulf of Mexico. It is slated to be delivered in the second half of 2011. 

The Gold Star is scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of 2009. The Lone Star semi is an Atlantia TDS 2400 design and also scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of 2009.
