ABS is the classification society of record for Kerr-McGee's Nansen and Boomvang floating platforms located in the Gulf of Mexico. ABS provided class services as part of a lifelong process to ensure that a facility or vessel is built and maintained to ABS Rules.

ABS Group Services do Brasil Delivers Engineering Management Services to Petrobras

The Vastar Horn Mountain is one of the Gulf of Mexico's deepest truss spar floating production platforms. It will be ABS classed as an XA1 Floating Offshore Installation. The spar is 105 ft in diameter. Photo shows the spar hull aboard the Dockwise Mighty Servant I just departing Mantyluoto Works Oy, Pori, Finland. The anchor piles and moorings were installed in March this year. The hull was uprighted and hooked to the mooring on June 18, followed by the deck on June 22.
Fire and Blast Considerations for Offshore Facilities
Recently ABS Consulting offered its expertise surrounding the issue of explosions in offshore facilities at the "International Workshop: Fire & Blast Considerations in The Future Design of Offshore Facilities" held in Houston, Texas.
