ISM Certification
Certification of a company and its vessels that meet the requirements of the 'International Management Code for the Safe Operation of Ships and for Pollution Prevention" (ISM Code).
- Document of Compliance (DOC) is issued upon verification of the ISM requirements within a company.
- Safety Management Certificate (SMC) is issued to the vessel when these same requirements are verified onboard the company's vessels.

HSQE Certification
The ABS
Guide for Marine Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental Management has
been developed as a management system model for safe operation. Topics
addressed include quality, pollution prevention, and preservation of
the environment.
The requirements of this Guide have been derived
from sound management system principles reflected in the requirements of
the ISM Code, Occupational Health Management Systems - OHSAS 18001:1999,
Quality Management Systems - ISO9000: 2000 and Environmental Management Systems
- ISO 14001:1996.
Companies that meet the requirements of the Guide are issued a certificate and additional notations are listed in the ABS Record. Notations are:
