Reg XII/11: Loading Instrument

Loading instruments must be approved (using IACS Recommendation No.48 as a guide) and be fitted on board all bulk carriers >150 meters in length by 1 July 1999. This is one year later than the implementation of comparable IACS requirements.

Recommendation No.48 indicates that the loading instrument, like the loading manual required under UR S1A, is to provide permissible deadweight per hold as a function of draft for single hold and, where appropriate, two-adjacent-hold loading.
